BUILDING SYSTEMS 03
aesterias library
SPRING 2024
The course focused on creating a library of rare books of 24,000 sqft from designing to the execution of the services in the design.
It understood the approach of integrated building systems along with design as a major part of the learning outcome. The integration of Electrical, Structure, Plumbing, and HVAC were crucial parts of the phases in terms of the course.
A team of 5 people with different skill sets came together to create a wholesome functioning yet architecturally sound library in the context of Phoenix by understanding the building codes, seismic and wind load calculations, and soil report.
The Process.
The process of design started with understanding the soil report along with parallel design attention towards structure. As the design progressed further, MEP came in picture for creating an overall structure. The understanding of architecture, structure and MEP and continous back and forth process made this project possible.
